Unexpected Gold
The current location of The AqueDuct is the old Jemison’s Harware store, build 1856. Jemison’s Hardware served the West Oakdale community for 133 years until it closed down in 1989. Henry Jemison left the business to his son, Craig, who passed it to his daughter Jessica. She decided to close the business in 1989 after a Home Depot opened in nearby Fort Lauderdale. Despite the small town roots, Jeminon’s Hardware just counld’t compete. The building sat empty for 5 years until a small software start up occupied the building. Sadly they filed for bankrupcty in 2001 following the collapse of the dot com bubble. The building sat empty until Tina bought it in 2022.
Tina fell in love with the building and while it languished, sitting empty for years, she always dreamed of fixing it up. With the help of friends, and her dad, the building was gutted and renovated from 2019- late 2021. The grand opening was in March of 2022.
